      First Lady Suits FAQ

Church suits are all about that Sunday-best vibe—think longer skirts, rhinestone buttons, elegant embroidery, and bold colors like purple or gold. They're built for sitting comfortably through a long service. Business suits are way more low-key, usually sticking to navy or gray with simpler cuts for moving around an office. While some church suits work for creative jobs, a standard business suit often feels a bit plain for the sanctuary.
It usually depends on your church's culture. Lots of modern sanctuaries are totally cool with it, but traditional spots—especially COGIC or some Baptist churches—might prefer a skirt. If you're visiting somewhere new, a skirt suit is usually the safest bet. If you do go for pants, keep it dressy and coordinated. When in doubt? Just check what the First Lady or Church Mother is wearing!
It should button comfortably without any "pulling" lines across your chest. The shoulder seams should hit right where your shoulders actually end, and the sleeves usually stop at your wrist bone. Between sizes? Go bigger. A suit that's too tight looks messy, but a tailored fit looks like a million bucks. You should be able to raise your arms to praise without the whole jacket riding up!
For traditional church sets, yeah, they’re meant to be a perfect match. It looks way more polished and intentional. But if you’re on a budget, you can definitely mix it up—a classic black skirt goes with pretty much any jacket. Our 3-piece wardrobers are the real MVP here since they give you matching pants AND a skirt for ultimate versatility.
Frustrating, right? It happens to the best of us. Usually, it's best to buy the size that fits your largest measurement and have the other piece taken in by a tailor—it's way easier to make clothes smaller than bigger. Some of our suits have elastic waistbands or stretch fabric which helps a ton with those "in-between" fit issues.
If you're in the pews every Sunday, 3 to 5 suits is a great start so you aren't wearing the same thing constantly. Grab a classic black, a crisp white for Easter/special Sundays, and maybe a regal purple or jewel tone. Quality over quantity, always! One suit you LOVE is way better than five you're just "meh" about.
Usually, yeah. A quality Donna Vinci or Tally Taylor suit can last you 10 years if you treat it right. When you break it down by how many times you'll wear it, it’s actually way cheaper than buying a low-quality suit that pills or loses its shape after three months. Plus, you just can't beat the way a designer cut makes you feel.
Totally, if you pick the right one! A simple black or navy suit is a multitasker. Dress it up with a big hat and pearls for Sunday morning, then swap for a professional bag and simple studs for Monday morning meetings. Just maybe save the suits with all the extra rhinestones and feathers for the sanctuary.
Don't over-clean 'em! You can usually get 5-10 wears out of a suit before it needs the dry cleaner. Hang it up immediately after service on a good hanger and let it air out. A quick steam will get the wrinkles out without the harsh chemicals. And always check the labels—some of our newer fabrics can actually be hand-washed.
Black, hands down. It works for everything: Sunday service, funerals, work meetings, weddings—you name it. It never goes out of style and doesn't show wear. Once you've got your "power black" suit, then you can start adding the fun whites, purples, and pinks to your closet!
